Dogs at the lake

We took Lucky to stay with my parents last weekend while we went out of town. They were still camping out at Lake Cypress when we took him on Thursday night so we went out there and ate fish with my family. Alex also got to play with Dixie, my brother's dog,  in the lake. I think this was only Alex's second time in the water, but she caught on fast and she loves it! Here are some pics of the two of them playing fetch.

And here is Lucky all dirty from laying in the cool dirt. You can barely tell how dirty he was. His face was completely covered!

If we ever go anywhere we usually get someone to keep Alex too, but she stayed in the backyard at Colt's parents with their dogs for the first time and one of their friends came over everyday to feed them. We didn't think Lucky would be able to handle that one though. We barely thought Alex would be able to! And now that Lucky's back from my parent's, we are still having to break him from begging for people food!  Thanks to my dad who feeds him ice cream and whatever else he wants, I think he gained a pound or two while he was there!!

I take a ton of pics of the two of them but I took a really cute one the other night and had to post it along with some other random pics of our two "kids."

This was them one night last week when they fell asleep next to each other.

And this is Alex exactly where she's not supposed to be. She's not allowed on the couch but evidently sometimes she thinks the rules don't apply.

 

Lucky was outside helping Colt build his chess board! Colt sent it to me at work showing me how hard Lucky was "working."

Motorcycle Mama

I took this several weeks ago when Colt took his mom on a ride on his bike. She isn't too thrilled about him having it, but you can't tell in this pic!

Marble Mishap

Last weekend was cleaning and I didn't even think about having to use certain cleaning products on Marble, and I used Comet on our master bathroom countertops and this is what happened! I was so mad at myself and I definitely learned not to do it again! It looks like I just took the polish off and it doesn't look like it's deep so hopefully it will be an easy fix. It still makes me sick when I go in there though!

Home Improvements

I haven't been keeping up with my blog or keeping my pics organized and developing them so I am trying to catch up a little bit today while I am doing laundry and unpacking. Here are some things that have been going on around our house since we moved in. Colt built me a shelf and hanging rack in the laundry room so I would have something to hang clothes on. He did an awesome job and he made it look like it was there when the house was built!

And he matched the rod perfect to our cabinets!

Right after we moved in we went and bought fabric and Dede came over and made us curtains for our living room!

Then about a week later we went and picked out kitchen fabric and she helped us make valances for in there. Saved us a lot of money and they look great!  

We ended up not even using a sewing machine but this was Colt trying to figure out how to get it to work!

We spent a morning working on flowerbeds one weekend.

Colt did most of it and I just observed.

We got a new kitchen table and I love it. Colt still eats at the couch but I use it!

And we had been looking for some small patio furniture and Colt found this from one of Dede's friends that was moving and having a sale. We got a good deal on it and it's perfect for the two of us. We've already used it a lot and I'm sure we'll use it even more this summer! We've gotten most of our projects done and we are really enjoying our house!

Father's Day - Mardi Gras

My parents were leaving for the lake to go camping today, so we went to Mt. Vernon last night to see my dad for Father's Day. We took my dad to eat dinner at Mardi Gras in Mt. Pleasant. After eating we stayed for a while because it was their last night before moving to their new location and they had karaoke! It was Colt's first time to go so he got to experience the great local talent!

Heath even got up and sang some Karaoke after everyone talked him into it, or actually, after his friend gave him some money to! Here he is singing "Swingin" by John Anderson.

And this is a pic of where we ate. Colt thought we were going to an Ace Hardware store on the way to the restaurant. We had really good food though and had a lot of fun celebrating Father's Day!
