Home from Vacation and Quick Rewind

We got home from an awesome vacation in St. Thomas last night around midnight. It was probably one of our most relaxing and comfortable vacations that we've been on! We LOVED it! We went to St. John for a day as well and it was great too! More pics and details on the vacation to come later.

After getting home around midnight last night, we stayed up until about 2:30 this morning and then for some reason I was wide awake at 5:30 so I'm about to call it a night. I am definitely dreading going back to work tomorrow and dreading my inbox of emails. Today I got my hair done, played catch up around the house, did laundry, did a few things for my 10 year class reunion coming up and then headed to Sulphur Springs to meet my parents at Braums to pick up the last of our dogs (and have ice cream of course).

So that I can jump right into blogging about our vacation next, I'm going to do a quick rewind of the two weekends prior to vacation.

A few weekends ago, the weekend of June 22nd, my parent's were camping out at Lake Cypress. Colt was on call and at the hospital all day Saturday so I headed to go visit them. On my way there, I got a ticket in Royse City on 548 for going way too far over the speed limit! I met the cop that ended up pulling me over but he didn't turn his lights on or pull me over until miles down the road after I had already gotten on and went down the interstate quite a ways. He said that he had to turn around and got stuck in traffic at the stop light. Ugh... and after driving back through there on the way home, I am almost positive that when I met him the speed limit was 55 mph not 45 mph that he said it was. Needless to say I have an expensive ticket to pay and unfortunately I was going too far over to do defensive driving :(. I really don't speed much on my normal way to work so even though it was definitely my fault and I shouldn't have been going that fast, it's still frustrating. I haven't speed since though! When I got to the lake that Saturday, my mom was still out at Selah Inn working. I visited with my dad and brother a while and then laid out on the dock while they cleaned fish. It was hot and that didn't last long though. When my mom got home we visited, and then Jennifer and Tenison got there. Heath blew my mom and I up air mattresses and we went and got in the water for a few minutes until it was time to have dinner. Not too long after dinner, I headed home.

The weekend before we left for vacation we had a pretty low-key weekend.  That Friday Colt took his last exam to finish up third year and officially has one more year of medical school left!! In a little less than 11 months, he will officially be a doctor! Seems crazy! Colt was in video game mode relaxing after his text by the time I got home from work Friday night. He pretty much stayed like that the whole night night and we didn't do much. We didn't even eat dinner. We went and got a gallon of Blue Bell late Friday night and that was our dinner. Saturday we had a really LAZY day. I literally slept the majority of the day. I got up, had a bowl of cereal, fell back asleep on the couch, we went and got Whatburger for lunch, I read a little in bed and fell asleep until almost 5. I think he played video games pretty much all day long too. We were pretty worthless! That night I did cook dinner and we watched Oz The Great and Powerful with James Franco. It was ok but not the greatest movie. Sunday morning, I knew we were about to go out of town so I got up early and weeded and worked in the flower beds (way overdue) before it got hot and also went to Wal-Mart to grab a few things that we needed. After Colt mowed, we spent most of the day in the backyard. He was putting in a new electric fence for the dogs and I was "assisting" while he got frustrated with me! That Sunday night we met my parents in Sulphur Springs to eat pizza and drop off Lucky so they could dog sit with him while we were out of town.

That Thursday before we left, an email also went out at work that I was promoted to manager. That means I also get an office, and that I am excited about.
