Alex's 2nd Birthday!

October 17th was Alex's 2nd birthday. I had her birthday wrote in my planner right, but for some reason I was thinking all along that her birthday was on Monday, the 18th, so we ended up celebrating her birthday on the wrong day. She got a big bone so I don't think she really cared what day we celebrated!
Colt helped her open it and then she went crazy with it.

It doesn't seem like Colt's had her two years already! Here are some pics of her when we first got her
and Lucky was actually bigger than her for a couple of weeks.

BYU/TCU Game

Last Saturday we went to the BYU and TCU game in Ft. Worth with Brock, Lindsey, and Brock's family! Brock's brother plays for BYU so his family had all came down for the weekend to go to the game. We met at their house and rode together to the game.
During the football game, the Rangers and Yankees game was going on! We got to see the very end of the game because some TCU fans were playing it on a big screen outside the stadium. The final score was 7 to 2!
Brock and Lindsey took three little boys to the game with them from their church. Two of them had never been to a football game. I think it was a little too hot and long for one of them!

After the game, we found the requested, Chick-Fil-A, for dinner, and then we visited at their house for a while before we headed home.
The game didn't turn out that great for BYU, but we had fun at the game and it was great to get to meet his family.

Blacktober is OVER!

Blacktober is over for Colt! He had three big tests within 7 days, and he took his last part of his anatomy midterm on Monday! This is what he looked like on the weekends. He usually studies at his desk or on the couch but sometimes I can't find him and he's outside studying in the middle of the backyard!
Here are a few more pics of the dogs playing in the yard while he was studying.
Now he gets a little more relaxed schedule at school for a little while, at least compared to the last few weeks. He went and bought some new video game tonight, and he's been playing it nonstop since he got home. He hasn't had time to do that since this summer! Also, I'm done with fall busy season at work. Two major pluses for us!!

Show Us Where You Live - Kitchens

Today is kitchen tours over at Kelly's Korner! Here are a few peaks at our kitchen. Our kitchen is probably one of my favorite parts of our house. I love all the room and the space, and I really love having an island now. We definitely didn't have any of these things in the kitchen at our old rent house.

Looking from the living room into the kitchen

Another one of my favorite parts of the kitchen is our pantry. Colt extended it on our floor plan and designed me the perfect corner pantry!
Can't wait to see other people's kitchens! HAPPY WEEKEND!

Bomb Squad

A few weeks ago, Colt and I started playing on a co-ed softball team with some of his classmates and a lot of their wives. I've played a little with my work's co-ed team a couple of seasons, but besides that, I haven't played softball since high school.  It kinda makes me miss it a little. Slow pitch is definitely different than fast pitch though! One main difference is I get to bat right handed! In high school, I always had to bat left handed and either drag bunt or slap it.

Our team name is the Bomb Squad. We won our first game a couple weeks ago by quite a bit. The game probably would have ended a little early, but Colt wanted to continue batting so him and Ryan made a couple of errors on purpose to let the other team score. Our second game got rained out, and then we played again last night and won! I think we are actually pretty good, either that or the other teams aren't very good, probably a combination of both! The game was at 9 last night so Colt and I weren't really looking forward to playing that late, but once we were playing, it was fun and it was worth it! I have led off hitting the last couple of games, and Colt is right behind me so that makes it pretty fun. Last night, he had a pretty good hit and was WALKING around the bases. I made it home and turned around and he was about to get thrown out and didn't even know it! Now that would have been funny if he would have gotten out while he was playing around! He plays around a lot during the games, with our team and the other team, and he always tells people to do the wrong thing when they're running bases. Who would've thought?! A lot of our guys had some really good hits last nights, and our girls did great too! In the field, we have to have a girl  either pitching or catching so Melissa, Ben's wife, is our designated catcher and Steve is our pitcher. The rest of us just kinda alternate wherever, except for our shortstop, Jay (thanks for the correction Katie!), who is pretty good, and our injured first baseman, Josh. We only have to have three girls on the field at a time, so two girls always play right field and second. When I do play in the field, I haven't changed since I used to play. I would still rather be in the outfield. I prefer fly balls much more than grounders. Grounders still scare me a little for some reason! I actually got a ball hit to me while I was in outfield last night, and luckily I caught it. I didn't think I was going to because I lost it in the lights for a minute.

I meant to take pics at the last two games. I left my camera in the car the first game, and then last night I made it a point to take my camera to the dugout and still forgot to take pics! Hopefully I'll remember next time!

Stethoscope and a skull...

Friday Colt picked me up from work and he had gotten his stethoscope in! It has his name engraved on it. It's a pretty good looking telescope, I think at least! He also had his human skull in a box that he has rented out from the school . He had brought it home to study this weekend... and yes it is a REAL human skull. He had to have me look at it before we even made it home that afternoon, and then I was stuck holding it in my lap the rest of the way home. Oh the life of being a medical student's wife! At least I don't see some of the stuff that he does in anatomy lab though. I'm not too sure I could handle that. Some of his stories on stuff that he has learned and saw are pretty interesting, but the stories are enough for me!

This is the box that his skull is in.
And this is Colt testing out his new stethoscope on Lucky

Show Us Where You Live - Dining Rooms

Yesterday was Show Us Where You Live - Dining Rooms over at Kelly's Korner

We actually don't use our formal dining room for a dining room. It is currently my husband's office. It's just the two of us so we figured we would make it a room we would use more. Since he is in medical school, he definitely uses it! We use our breakfast area right off the kitchen as our dining area.
These two pics below are older pics from when we first moved in. Since then, his mom made us the larger centerpiece that's in the pic above.

We don't even really use this table much either, but maybe one day we will and my husband will want to actually eat at the table!
