Going Home With Cutler

Our hospital stay with Cutler was a lot smoother and quicker than it was with Kinley. Cutler didn't have to get pricked near as much, and we got to go home fast since he was full term with no issues. The nurses did my paperwork early the day after he was born so as soon as they did his 24 hour testing, we were free to go. Dede and David had made us dinner that night, but they left to head back to their house when we got home. We were on our own as a family of 4 as soon as we got home from the hospital. That first night, big sister did not want to go to bed in her own room. I can't remember if it was that night or a couple nights later... but she was in her room on the monitor saying Daddy, Mommy, Baby Brother in Mommy and Daddy's room. Kinley in her room. She wasn't a fan. Dad had to sleep in her room most of that first night we were home.

Cutler was born at 4:46 pm, and he was in a carseat by 5 the next day to head home. I don't remember him crying on the car ride home, but evidently he wasn't really a fan from the looks of these pictures.
Kinley put her Minnie Mouse with him when we got home.
Sweet sleepy boy on his first night home
Colt surprised me with a push present when we got home too. It was an "It's a Boy" charm for my Pandora bracelet and a "C" charm. The "It's a Boy" charm was just like the push present he got me when we had Kinley.
I also got to put all the details about his birth on the sign in his room.
I apologize in advance to Cutler. With Kinley, I did weekly posts because I just had so many pictures of her. I also had so many videos of her literally just laying there breathing. I looked back and I only have two videos with him in them in February. It's definitely not because of lack of love. With two kids, you just don't have as much free time to sit and hold them and stare at them... although I would love to and I do every chance that I get!

A few more pics

Here are just a few more random pictures from Cutler's birthday and the day after.

February 8th
It was Cutler and I hanging out
for a while that morning.
After lunch, I put him in his little brother outfit because Kinley was coming back up to the hospital to see him. We hung out and had some mommy/baby time until everyone joined us.
While we were at the hospital, Kinley was obviously entertaining grandparents at our house.

Meeting Big Sister and the Rest of the Grandparents

Dede, David and my dad had been at the house with Kinley during Cutler's birth. Once I got settled in a room, they all came up and joined us at the hospital to meet him for the first time. On the way up to the room, Dede took Kinley to the gift store, and Kinley picked me out a present all by herself.  She picked me out a St. Christopher necklace. She kept saying, "You like it? Present for you at doctor's office." It's funny that she picked a St. Christopher because my dad used to wear one all the time. It's now on a necklace with other charms. Every time I wear it she talks about how she got it for me.

They didn't get up to the hospital until around 8 that night. Visiting hours were almost over and Kinley was already pretty tired so they didn't get to stay long.  I wish I could've known what Kinley was thinking when she met him. She said he was cute and wanted to tickle him. I don't think she liked the idea of me having to stay the night at the hospital though. My parents headed home after they left the hospital. Dede and David went to our house and put Kinley to bed. Evidently Kinley kept saying "Mommy, Daddy at doctor with baby brother." Sweet girl! I know Dede was a little disappointed that she wasn't there for the whole time for Cutler's birth, but we thought that would've been too long for Kinley to sit at the hospital and needed someone to stay at the house with her.

These were the first pics we got of Kinley meeting Cutler for the first time. This was the first time for Grandma to meet him too.
Papa holding Cutler for the first time... my Dad doesn't hold babies until they get a little bigger. I think he's scared of them! He didn't hold Kinley at first either.
I don't remember why we were so upset or maybe just sleepy.
Our attempt at our first picture as a family of 4. Not too bad considering it was about 9:15 that night!
This was my present that Kinley brought me.
Colt's mom later got me the necklace below with both Kinley and Cutler's names on it. I added the St. Christopher from Kinley to it. I love it.

Cutler's Birth

I previously posted Cutler's birth story. I won't repeat everything that I wrote in his birth story. I'll mainly just put pictures on this post, but he was born on February 7th at 4:46 p.m. He was 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 21 inches long. I can't believe that this was 7 months ago.

This was Colt while I was in labor. He also went down and ate both breakfast and lunch.

After about an hour, the nurses took him for me for just a bit.

He wasn't quite 3 hours old in this picture.
First time to be held by Giggy... my mom was in the room during his birth so she got to meet him a few hours before everyone else did. Colt left for a bit to go spend some time with Kinley and give her some attention. My mom stayed with me and helped get me moved into a room when it was ready.
"Birth" days are so special and memories that I will cherish forever!
