Christmas Decor and My First DIY wreath!

This year was the first year that Colt and I went and picked out and bought our own Christmas tree. We had used my tiny one from college and my parent's old tree the past few years. We looked at a few and ended up getting a big one that we liked from Home Depot. We didn't even wait until after Thanksgiving to put it up. It was up the day that we got it. I thought it might be a little big when we first put it up in our house but now I love it!

I also got the idea that I would make my own Christmas wreath this year, and I think that it turned out great! I was very happy with it. I did scratch our kitchen table when I was making it though, and that I wasn't happy about. I didn't think about the wire on the back scratching up the table and it did. Luckily, it isn't too noticeable. Colt gave me a hard time though. He was like, "so how much money did you end up saving by making your own wreath?" Evidently, it wasn't too much after messing up the table, but it was bound to get messed up one day right?

Thanksgiving Festivities

I'm more than a little behind on my blogging! We're in Utah right now on vacation, but I figured while I had a minute I would try to catch up a little. For Thanksgiving this year, we did what we have the last couple of years. We went to see my family for lunch, and then we went to Colt's mom's and caught the end of their Thanksgiving that night. A few days before we also went to Gerald's parent's  house for their annual Tamale Party. Unfortunately, I didn't get hardly any pics of anything over Thanksgiving. It was great to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the holiday though. We have a lot to be thankful for and are really blessed!

Here are a few random pics that I did get over Thanksgiving.

Another one of Colt's toys

Colt had been talking about upgrading TV's for a little while now, and we would always look at them at Fry's or Best Buy when we were there. All the new TV's are not much bigger than the one he had except for a few that you are going to pay a fortune for right now. I asked him why upgrade if you are going to have to upgrade again later? About a week after his birthday, we went and got a projector for our living room. We had talked about getting one before, and he had been doing a lot of researching before we went and got it. The night we got it, he built a mount out of some scrap material he had in the garage and we had our TV on our wall! He borrowed his parent's pull down screen to see what it was going to look like. Then after even more research and talking on forums, the next weekend, he made his own screen. He bought a piece of plastic, mixed about 14 different paints, painted the plastic, and then covered wood in felt and we had a screen. The recipe of paint he mixed had a blueish tint so he added more white, and it looks great and handles light great! He's such a handy husband!
We didn't have a ladder so instead he stacked our step stool on our kitchen table. Real safe.

He was so happy as you can probably tell since he is displaying it!

And now this is what our living room looks like.
Mixing up the paint to make his screen

And building the border of the screen. I actually got to help a little with this part of it.

And putting the last coat of paint on the screen. Supposively a gray tinted screen holds light more than a white one. I learn something everyday with all his little hobbies and him being in medical school!

And the finished product

It took a little to get used to watching our TV shows on it but I think it's grew on me, and it is really neat to play Wii on and watch movies on! We should be done with TV's and upgrades for a while now!

World Series - I didn't go.. but my hubby did!

I'm a little late posting this, but the Rangers went to the World Series this year for the first time ever! The division series against the Yankees was probably more exciting to me than the World Series against the Giants, but it was all very exciting! We used to go every summer when I was growing up and Nolan Ryan played but since then, I don't think I've been to a game. Colt and I almost went to the last division game against the Yankees. We were going to buy tickets and then we backed out, but even watching it at home was great! I had made the statement that if they made it to the World Series game, we were going, but then I found out how much tickets cost and we changed our mind! The Rangers lost game 1 and 2 in San Francisco, they won game 3 at home and then lost game 4. Game 5, which ended up being the last game of the series, Colt's stepdad got the two of them tickets to go to the game! I was home from work and Colt looked at me and said "you're going to be so mad!" I kinda threw a fit at first. Colt even went and bought me a ticket on ebay because of it. I told him I wasn't paying that much to go though, and I made him request a refund for them. I did throw a fit at first, but it didn't mean I had changed my mind and wanted to pay that much to go! Luckily he was able to get the refund! He had a great time, and I'm glad he got to go to a World Series game! I think he took more videos than anything, but here are a few pics that he took while he was there.

The Rangers lost the World Series, but they did great, and it definitely seems like everyone in the area are Rangers fans now!
