Since my last blog, we have had a lot going on . We had our open house, went to Six Flags with Colt's stepdad and his kids, celebrated our one year anniversary, and went to Riviera Maya on vacation!! I am in the process of trying to update the blog and get it all caught up!

July 4th
We went and celebrated the 4th with Gerald's family in Kemp. Peter and Jamie, Gerald's parents, cooked ribs, parmesan and BBQ chicken wings, brats, and homemade mac and cheese and everything was wonderful! Their family makes some parmesan chicken wings that are amazing and I don't even really like chicken wings!

Colt and Gerald trying to pick out their fireworks
The beginning of the firework show turned into a firework battle between all the guys. They were throwing black cats at each other to start with and then Colt and Gerald ending up having a roman candle shoot out! I don't know what it is about Colt and fire?! or guys and fire?!
And this was during the roman candle shoot out. They got VERY close a few times. They are crazy!

Colt looks like he's up to something in this one and I'm sure he was!
And part of the grand finale
Here are a couple of videos of the guys playing with their fireworks and the last one is the very end of the roman candle shoot out. I wish I would've gotten it all on video but I was a little worried about them at first! We had a great time celebrating the 4th with Gerald's family and appreciate them inviting us out!
Alex Running on the Treadmill
We basically did nothing at all on Saturday, which was great! Colt got the idea though that he was going to teach Alex how to run on the treadmill. Here are some pics of how that went! She actually got the hang of it by the end of his lesson!
We even got some videos.
and the successful attempt!
Dallas Vigilantes Game
On Friday, July 2nd, we got together with the Ishee's and went to a Dallas Vigilante Arena Football game!Coach Ishee was one of Colt's high school coaches and him and his wife Leigh, just had their baby Brayson last year. They met us at our house to get the tour of our new place and then we headed to the game! We had great seats on about the third or fourth row. I had never been to an arena football game but Colt used to go to some of the Desperado games when they were in Dallas. It is definitely a lot faster pace than regular football and it was fun to watch.
We sat behind some guys that were yelling at a player on the other team the whole time, so they made it pretty entertaining. You can see one of them in the pic below. We even made it on the big screen during the Gold's Gym flex cam. I flexed for it but Colt just stared around!
We had a good time and it was great to see Ishee's!

And his Chess Board is Finished
Colt finished his third chess board last week. The beginning of this chess board I posted earlier. The top pics are while he was still in process of working on it, laquering and sanding, etc., and the bottom pics are it actually completed. The drawers he made to hold his chess pieces turned out really neat and the entire board turned out great!
And the finished product!
Very proud of him and his new talent! He says he's not making another one though unless someone brings him some wood and wants one. He thinks it'll make a good centerpiece for our table and that it will look much better than flowers! I played chess with him a couple of times when we first started dating but I already forgot how, so now I just have to relearn how to play chess again so I can play with him, even though he'll beat me!
