Cotton Bowl 2010 - Ole Miss vs. OSU

Gerald made it to the Cotton Bowl again this year so this past Saturday we went to support him and Ole Miss! This year it was at the new Cowboy Stadium in Arlington so that was fun! Denean, Bryce, Dede and David all met at our house that morning to head to the game. We tailgaited for a little while with Gerald's family and then went on to check out the stadium! Colt was amazed by the huge TV. I was too, but Colt is definitely the TV guy! We had great seats, but I couldn't help but watch the TV the whole time. It was a bit distracting to me! Ole Miss played Oklahoma State this year. The game was honestly a horrible game. There were so many interceptions and turnovers that it made it a little hard to watch. Snead, the QB for Ole Miss  had a really bad hit, which made Colt happy of course, and we had to watch it again on tivo when we got home! Also, the pass route Gerald ran, the backup quarterback got sacked :( The 4th quarter was a little more exciting and Ole Miss came out with a WIN so that's all that matters! The final score was 21-7 and Ole Miss won the Cotton Bowl two years in a row!

Celebrating after the WIN

After the game, we all went to Gerald's brother's house to celebrate and wait on Gerald to get there.
As Gerald and Ferb, the other tight end, arrived we were all outside singing the Ole Miss "Hotty Toddy" cheer to greet them!

2009: Definitely a year to remember!

This year seemed to go by incredibly fast! It was a big year for us and we made lots of wonderful memories! Here is a quick flashback of some of the highlights of our lives in 2009.

We went to the Cotton Bowl to watch Ole Miss (particulary Gerald) beat Texas Tech in January!

We spent a lot of time wedding planning and we were blessed with a wedding showers in Forney and in Mt.Vernon!

We celebrated Lucky's 2nd birthday in May.

We celebrated my birthday in May by Colt surprising me by taking me to Benihana's.

Colt went to UT-Houston for a month in the summer to take classes and work at the hospital there.
I went to see him one weekend to go with the other students to Galveston.

Colt got a new GMC truck, our first major purhcase. We won't talk about why he had to get a new one though!

I went to Austin with my family to celebrate my brother Heath's graduation from the Game Warden Academy!

We had our bachelorette and bachelor parties. Colt's was at the Bobby and Missy's lake lot in West Texas and I don't have any pics, but here's a pic of mine!

We got married and it was one of the BEST days of my life! I married an amazing man. I am a very lucky girl!

We went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for our honeymoon. It was amazing!

We celebrated Alex's 1st Birthday in October. She has grown so much in a year!

On Halloween, we celebrated Colt's 22nd Birthday at Del Frisco's!

The dogs were a spider and a devil for Halloween!

We drove to Oxford, Mississippi to watch Gerald in the Ole Miss vs. LSU game. Ole Miss won!

We celebrated our first Christmas as husband and wife, and I made our first Christmas cards! We spent time with family and friends over the holidays and had a wonderful Christmas!

Colt spent probably about two months or so traveling and interviewing for medical schools in Texas. He was glad to be done with that!

I spent a lot of time studying for the wonderful CPA exam. I found out about a week before Christmas that I passed my third test, so one to go and then I get to get rid of these books!

We had a wonderful 2009 and can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for us! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

It is 2010! Last night we celebrated New Year's at our house, just us and our dogs.We were planning on going to eat, but we didn't want to get out in the cold and rain so I cooked tacos and we watched movies together. It was great!

Happy Birthday to my Daddy!

The day after Christmas is my dad's birthday. He decided he wanted to go eat at a place in Mt. Pleasant called Mardi Gras. When we got there it was also karaoke night! Colt had Christmas that day at his grandparent's in Watauga so he couldn't go and Lily ended up running fever so her and Nadine ended up staying home as well, so it was me, my parents, Joe, Heath and Jennifer! It was hilarious watching some of the people sing! We had a really good time and enjoyed celebrating his birthday together. My mom has more pics, but this is one of my parents that I took on my camera!

Happy Birthday!!
Here are a couple of more pics that my mom gave me later.

Christmas Day

We spent Christmas Eve night at Colt's parents in Forney to be there Christmas morning with his neice and nephew, Davallen and Jacob. We heard them giggling at about 8 as they were looking down the stairs at what Santa brought and that's when the fun started! We all got up to see what Santa brought. The kids were fun to watch! We relaxed  and watched the kids play the rest of the afternoon and had lunch, then we headed back home. We did nothing the rest of the day and watched The Proposal together Christmas night. It was a great Christmas (our first Christmas as Mr. and Mrs. Smithson) and I enjoyed spending time with both of our families over the holidays!

Christmas Eve

We spent the 23rd with my parents and were there Christmas Eve. Right about the time both of my brother's were supposed to get there and dinner was almost done the electricity went out! We had to take the dressing outside to cook it in the camper since it has a gas stove and we took our annual family pic in the dark! Right about the time we were done eating the lights came back on!

The whole family and Pistol too (mom's puppy)!

Shortly after gifts, Colt and I had to leave to try and get to his grandparents in Rockwall before it got too late. There was a lot more snow up our direction than there was at my parents, but luckily the roads weren't bad.
