February recap

It's been FOREVER since I've blogged, and I have a ton to catch up on. I was home from work sick on Wednesday so I started going through drafts that I'd started forever ago and started sorting through pics. I'm still sick by the way... going on almost a week now. Sore throat is finally gone for the most part, but I still sound like a man and am definitely not 100%.

I have almost 20 drafts so we'll see how far I can get tonight... probably not very far! May is going to be a super busy month for us so I feel like if I don't get caught up now, I never will.

Here's a little bit of everything from the month of February. All the pics are from my phone and are mostly selfies. The majority of the selfies are due to a little hair mishap that my hair is still suffering from unfortunately.

February 1st
A pic before I headed to Mt. Vernon and Pattonville that Saturday.
I was sporting one of my favorite scarves from my growing collection. I was also wearing some booties for the first time that I had bought online. I still have mixed emotions about booties. I like them and think they're cute on everyone else, but I feel a little weird when I wear them!
This was also right before I cut my long hair off and went more blonde. I'm thinking that was a bad decision and I want to go back.
Colt had to work that Saturday so I made the trip home solo. I picked up mom at their house and we headed straight to Pattonville to celebrate Mal's shower for baby #2.  It was so good to see Mal and also see Emily, my college roommate, too. As soon as we left the shower, we headed back to my parent's for my Logan's birthday party that I previously posted about.
The next day was Super Bowl Sunday. Colt watched while I did other stuff. Evidently I didn't miss very much by not watching the game this year though.

February was just as busy as January was. I don't think there will ever be a slow time at work again... or at least not any time in the near future. February started off particularly busy at work though with meetings and teleconferences. The days I like best are the days I just get to work.
I got my hair done that first week of February. I got it done at a place downstairs from where I work. Colt likes blonde-blonde. My hair had been getting darker and darker from low lights so I told my hair lady that I wanted to go more blonde and brighten it up for summer. I also wanted it shorter, kind of a long-bob style. What I was going for was similar to how Julianna Hough's haircut was in Safe Haven ... but a longer version of it. I wanted to go Kelly Ripa short, but Colt said no. I'm glad he said no!  As soon as she started taking the foil off my hair, she said I was going to be real blonde. My hair lifts up really fast. It was definitely blonder than I was wanting or expecting! It was orangey-yellowish looking to me. It was mainly just like that on my bangs where she had colored big chunks instead of really weaving it. The back of my hair was ok.

Told you it was blonde! I like more of a warm blonde.
I got a few comments from people at work about how bright it was and one comment asking if I was going to the beach. I called and scheduled an appointment to get her to see if she could tone down the front of my hair. It took her a while to get me in. By the time I went, a lot of the blonde had started to die down. I should've just left it alone (like Colt told me too), but I went ahead and went and she put some low lights in. She just did my bangs or the front part of my hair. It looked ok under her light. However, when I looked in a normal mirror, the part she redid was a lot darker than the rest of my hair.  I didn't like it at all. I'm never picky about my hair either... I promise... and she's done my hair a ton of times!  I called back immediately and we scheduled an appointment to redo it, yet a 3rd time. She did a better job of making it match at least, but it still wasn't a blonde that I would've picked. The front of my hair was pretty fragile and my hair overall is not near as healthy as it was. I think it's a little fried. I can usually go months without getting my hair done, that wasn't the case this time. My roots started showing super fast this time. The day after Tax Day, I went to Brittney here in Forney to try to get her to fix it. I think she was scared to do anything too drastic so it will probably be a couple more times before I'm happy and it's healthy again...
We also started having showings of our house the first week of February. Since then, we've taken it off the market, and I will blog about that later. We had the Junior League Ball coming up, and I knew I needed a dress and enough time to get it altered (shortened). That Wednesday, I stopped at Terry Costa to glance at dresses on my way back to work after a client meeting in Frisco. There were a few that were ok and one that I liked, but I wasn't willing to pay that much.
That Thursday ended up being a snow day. I got to work early that day so it didn't even start snowing until after I was already at work. Colt picked me up at lunch, and we left my car at the office.
This was downtown and traffic on 30 as we were leaving.
I'm glad we got out of there early.
And this was our house when we got home.
That Friday morning I rode in with Colt early because of the weather. It was still a little frozen in our neighborhood but after that, the roads were fine. We had a baby shower for a co-worker that day at work. I left from that to get home because the weather was supposed to get bad again. Luckily it didn't. It was just very cold!
That Saturday, February 8th, Colt was on call until 9 or so that night so I went dress shopping. I was going straight to the Galleria, but on my way out I thought of David's Bridal so I stopped in Mesquite first. This was the first dress I tried on at David's Bridal.
I went to a few stores at the Galleria, a few stores around Park Lane, and then I ended up back at David's Bridal of all places and bought the first dress  I should've just got the dress in the first place, and I wouldn't have wasted so much time shopping that day!

This was probably my other favorite at Nordstroms. I text Colt throughout the day because I'm not a good decision maker!
And more pics of the dress I ended up with.
I didn't find shoes to match that day. I needed them so I could get my dress altered so I went to trusty Zappos and ordered a shoe at about every heel height. Free shipping and free returns.. why not?
I ended up having to pay a rush fee for my alterations anyways though.
That Sunday since Colt was off, we spent the day together and went to the gym that afternoon and did a practice open WOD. I will post a video on the next post.

The next week, February 10th-16th, the weather was supposed to be bad again early in the week but it ended up not being bad at all. Colt was on long call that Thursday and didn't get home until 10:30 or 11. That Friday was Valentine's Day. When we went to bed on Thursday night, Colt acted like he was exhausted and had forgotten about Valentine's. We don't usually do much, if anything. Friday morning he suprised me and gave me my first Pandora charm to go on my bracelet that I got Christmas. I love it!
Our Valentine's dinner that Friday night was frozen pizza :)
We ate at home and ordered the movie Heat with Sandra Bullock to watch. Saturday morning we went to open gym at 11. Afterwards Colt wanted to go play paintball. I was supposed to go too, but the other guy's wife that went ended up not going so I went and got a pedicure instead!
Since Colt was on call that Sunday, I went into work to try and get ahead on hours and get some stuff done while noone was there. Is it bad that I kinda wish it was an empty office all the time and the phones weren't ringing?! I did get ahead, but I lost them all as the week went on and ended up behind again!

The week of February 17th-23rd, I managed to work out twice that week which was doing good compared to what it had been! Tuesday I had my semi-annual review/mentor meeting at work. That night I had Happy Hour with work at Katy Trail Ice House. Friday's workout that week was Fran. Fran is a benchmark workout of 21-15-9 thrusters and pull-ups. I did it in 5:26 and was hurting. I was also sore for days. After workout, we went and picked up my dress in Mesquite. Colt was wanting to use a piece that they had cutoff my dress for his handkerchief and they didn't save it. It was a good thought. He did pick up a tie on Thursday that matched my dress pretty well though. He even stopped at the dress store to make sure it matched after he bought it! He surpises me sometimes! Saturday, Colt and Josh played paintball. We had the Junior League Ball Saturday night so I had made a hair appointment at 2. I was planning on working a little Saturday morning but I didn't really need enough hours to be worth the drive in so I ended up doing a few things from home instead. I went to the gym Saturday morning for a gymnastics class. At the end of the class we did a tiny bit of work on back tucks. I was scared! It had been years since I had tried to throw myself backwards.
I ended up getting my nails painted. I thought my nails were too short for french but they turned out ok ... although the paint job only lasted a couple days.
I rushed to get home and showered to be at my hair appointment. Brittney, from they gym, did my hair and makeup.
I will post more of a recap and pics from the Junior League Ball in a seperate post.
The last week of February I guess was pretty uneventful, or I just didn't write down anything that went on. That Thursday, the 27th, the first workout was announced to kickoff the start of the CrossFit Open.  That led to a few busy weekends between trying to fit in getting judged and being in the middle of tax season at work!
