Riviera Maya, Mexico - Saturday, July 24th

Everyone had been telling us that once Colt starts medical school, our chances to take a vacation may be slim, so before it was time for him to start school and before I got back into tax season, we decided to take a vacation. We went and stayed five nights, July 24th-July 29th, at the Valentin Imperial Maya in Riviera Maya, Mexico. It was a beautiful resort and we had a great vacation! We booked our vacation back in June and invited my mom to go with us because she got her passport a year ago and has never been out of the country or seen a beach besides Galveston. She went back and forth on whether she was going to go or not, which is it's whole own story! Then the Monday before we left, she decided she wanted to go again. Nothing like last minute plans! Rather than her going by herself, Colt's mom went to so they would be able to do things together. It was stressful planning the trip, on me anyways, but the trip itself was great and it ended up being well worth it. While we were there people acted like we were crazy when they found out we brought both of our moms together and said there was no way! Them being the talkers that they are, went on to explain they had already duked it out at our wedding a year ago so everything was just fine now! I was skeptical about the whole vacation, but it went MUCH better than expected and it was very fun!

I think overall we took over 800 pics (surprisingly Colt takes even more pictures than me) so I'm going to right a little about each day so the blog doesn't get too long!!

We flew out on Saturday morning and arrived at our resort that afternoon around 2 or 3. When we got there, we changed clothes and headed to the beach.

This is right outside our room.

We tried out the steak place that night for dinner and it was great, or everything except the salad was anyways!

This was on the walkway to the steak restaurant.

After dinner we walked down to the beach for a minute.
And here are some random pics of the resort and our room that we stayed in.

August Desktop

Before I start the vacation blogging (because I have a feeling it'll take a little while), you can now get your free August desktop here! I can't believe how fast the summer has gone! The weekend after next we go for Colt's med school orientation already and pretty soon I'm going to be starting fall busy season at work.

One Year Anniversary

We celebrated our One Year Anniversary on July 18th!! It was a Sunday and we were leaving for vacation the next weekend so we didn't really do too much. We went and saw Inception at the movies, cooked enchiladas for dinner and ate a couple of bites of the top of our wedding cake! It was a great and relaxing day!

Our top of our wedding cake after being stored in my parent's freezer for a year.
What a difference a year in a freezer makes!

Colt was definitely not excited about eating it!
We both ate a couple of bites and it was actually pretty good!
The morning of our anniversary, I gave him a little memory book recapping our first year of being married. Here is a link to the book that I made him. I can't believe we've already been married a year, it went by so fast! We had a lot going on our first year of marriage! It was a very exciting and memorable year, and I can't wait to spend many more together!

Six Flags - July 15th

Both of David's daughters were in town for a little while and they had a trip planned to Six Flags on Thursday, July 15th so I took off work and we went to Six Flags with them before they left town. Victoria, David's youngest, was in town from Steamboat Springs, and Lindsey and Paul were in with their two girls on a break from Africa, where they have been living since December and doing missionary work. Six Flags was a lot of fun, but I can definitely tell a difference between this time and the last time we went when Colt and I first started dating. I don't know if it was the heat or the difference a few years makes, but the rides definitely took more of a toll on me this time and on Colt too! Afterwards we both came home and slept the rest of the afternoon and night!
