Weekend and Major Catch-Up Needed

Well I've come to accept the fact that I will not be updating our blog for March, April and May until AFTER our move next Monday... and then some more time because I will be unpacking and making our new house a home...but it will happen eventually! I blame it on the fact that I've been sick the last month and life has just been crazy. And yes, I am STILL congested and not feeling great. The first time I went to the doctor was the end of April and here we are sneaking up on the end of May. I'm so ready to feel normal and like myself again! Colt started getting the same symptoms at the end of this past week. However, what has lingered on with me for weeks, he seems to be pretty much over it in about 3 days! To add to my "normal" symptoms of congestion and cough, Saturday I started feeling really flushed. My cheeks were super red and my back all of a sudden broke out like crazy from my shoulders to about mid-back. By Saturday night, I had bumps all over my shoulders and back. It looks like acne but also like a rash... I don't think it's normal. Colt thinks that it might be a reaction to the steroid pills that the doctor put me. Who knows?! Needless to say, it's been a funky weekend, and we've both been kinda sickly.

Colt's parents did come over tonight. His mom brought dinner, and David came to watch the playoff basketball game with Colt, but that was pretty much the extent of our fun and interaction with others this Memorial Day weekend.

We did manage to do some packing and shopping though.
Colt had already done a lot of packing. Since neither one of us were feeling well on Sunday, we opted to not go to the lake with his family.and decided to stay home and pack the rest of our house instead. We're pretty much packed and ready to go with the exception of a couple more boxes.

For our shopping, we did a little shopping on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and today...You would think since we're moving we would want to be getting rid of stuff but that hasn't been the case. This weekend we probably did more shopping than we have in years. We're not normally much on shopping or for really getting out of Forney in general!

Thursday we made a trip to Mesquite to Home Depot for some reason. We ended up stopping at Haverty's and looking at couches. Colt has never really liked our current couches. He misses our old sectional. He found a loveseat recliner he loved. We just weren't sure about it fitting with our current furniture so we had to come home and see if it would work.

Friday after I got home from work, we ran to Mesquite, yet again, to take a mower back. Then we went on to Dallas to get his phone fixed and look around a little at couches and bedding. Our bedding is about 5 years old.  After the move, we were planning to switch to more of a gray color scheme. I ordered bedding at JCPenney's on clearance, but when it came in, I wasn't sold. We were going to try and use it still but possibly mix it with some other stuff possibly from Pottery Barn so we did some browsing to see what our options were.

Saturday afternoon, after I did some grocery shopping and Colt visited his grandpa in the hospital, (his grandpa got bit by something and had a bad reaction and has been in the hospital a few days now) we ended up making another trip to Mesquite and Dallas. We ended up ordering Colt's loveseat that we had looked at on Thursday. Since he got a new loveseat, the deal was that I got the bedding I really wanted (just kidding but that is how it worked out)! We ended up going to two different Pottery Barns in Dallas and finding a quilt we wanted that we thought would look good with the bedding we already had. After much debate on price, we bought it. I think Colt nearly had a heart attack. I honestly did too! That night we also had to run a couple more errands and exchange our dishes and take back some other things. By the time we got home, we were exhausted. We ordered Papa John's and called it a night. I was also disappointed because our mix and match bedding try was not successful at all! It didn't look good.

After a day of non-shopping on Sunday, we went back today to buy our bedding we had decided on. Of course one store didn't have everything we wanted so we ended up going to two Pottery Barns again today! We are officially done with that store for a while. On the way home, we stopped and got cheap pillows and a duvet from Stein Mart and grabbed some Chipotle. This is what we made it home with. It defintely doesn't look like someone that is moving OUT.
And here is our final product. I love it! Colt did all the "design" work and pretty much picked everything out.  He's really pretty impressive :) He really did lay out all the pillows and decide on everything we were buying. What can I say... he's good at it and I'm not a decision maker! Our bedroom walls in the new house are gray so I think it's going to look great! We also plan on having this bedding for a lot of years to come, or at least we better.
Now off to bed to get ready for a short work week. This Thursday will actually be my last day in the office before our move and before I transition to working remotely. That's only three more days in the actual office, and I have a lot to get done before then!

Sick AGAIN & Birthdays

I am sick AGAIN... going on 6 days now! I still have no voice and can't seem to get rid of my cough and congestion. I feel like I've been sick pretty much the whole last month! I was sick just a couple weeks ago for about a week and a half with the exact same symptoms. I think it's all allergy related. I went to the doctor last time, and they thought it was and that it had led to a sinus infection. Last time I went to the doctor, I got a zpack, shot and cough medicine. I had just got over it when we left for vacation to Punta Cana. The whole time we were gone, I was perfect! Then a few days after we got back... I'm back to where I left off. I did run outside on the Sunday we got back so that's what makes me think it's allergies. When I was running,  I turned the corner and they were shredding in our neighborhood. At work this past week, I didn't have a voice most of the week again. I kept thinking I was going to get better, but Friday I felt worse and ended up staying home from work since it was a short day at work anyways. I slept pretty much the WHOLE day. I hadn't been sleeping all week because of coughing and the fact that Claritin D was keeping me up at night. Friday night was Colt's medical school graduation party that had been planned for a while. He said I didn't have to go, but I went and tried to be a trooper! Even though I wish I would've felt better, it was fun, and I will post more about it later. Saturday, I still wasn't feeling great but I was a little better. My parents came up to celebrate my birthday (my 29th and last year in my twenties which Colt is good about reminding me about!). We went to lunch at Oscar Delta here in Forney and then just came back to the house. We did start doing a little packing... or really my mom and Colt did some packing and I just observed and took stuff out of cabinets. My parents got me several sets of red fiesta dishes for my birthday. I've been wanting new dishes, and I've been debating classic white dishes that go with everything and match white serving dishes that I have or red. I still haven't really decided because I hate decisions! My parents just went ahead and bought the red for me and said that I could exchange them.
Colt's mom also got me a present and gave it to me at the graduation party on Friday night. She got me two new Pandora charms for my charm bracelet! The first one stands for love, and the second one for love and family.
After my parents left on Saturday, we just relaxed and I spent the majority of the night on the couch watching tv. We had cereal for dinner and we ended up watching the Vow together, which I have wanted to see forever, on TV later that night... and then I proceeded to cough my head off for a few hours!

Lucky also celebrated his 7th birthday this month! I can't believe we've had him 7 years! We were in Punta Cana on his birthday so we missed it. I also didn't get him a present this year. My mom said that she told him Happy Birthday though!

14.1

For the CrossFit open this year, they released the workouts on Thursday and gave you until Monday night to complete the workout and get your scores submitted.

The 14.1 workout was:
10 minutes AMRAP (as many rounds and reps as possible)
30 double-unders
15 power snatches (75 lb men/ 55 lb women)

We both did the workout on that Saturday, March 1st, because we were going to Temple to look at houses that Sunday. I ended up with 222 reps. I think I went unbroken on all but one round of the double unders so that was the easy part for me. The weight got heavy for me fairly fast though. Colt did the workout twice. On Saturday, he got 278 reps. He tried using a closer grip that time. He ended up using all arm strength and basically just muscling the weight up every rep. He also didn't quite have his double unders down that time. He wanted to try it again with a wider grip. We got stuck in Temple on Sunday night due to some crazy weather that I will talk about in the next post. Therefore, we ended up not heading back home until around lunch on Monday. We made it home in time to get up to the gym. Since we were there, he decided last minute to go ahead and do a redo. He got 289 reps the second time. I think he could've done even better than that if he would've been fresh. It seemed like on the second time he did it, he was tired before he even started round 2. That wasn't the case the first time.  It probably also didn't help that the whole time we were away from home on Sunday and Monday, we had fast food and his diet consisted of McDonald's and Taco Bell either!

Here's a little chart that shows our reps, the place we were in the region and an estimate of how we stood compared to everyone else in the region.
Pics that I got off Facebook from 14.1.
And some more pics that I took of him the first time he did 14.1.
Getting ready to start.
Dead at the end...

Junior League Ball

We went with Josh and Brianna to the Junior League Ball on February 22nd. We were running late and rushing to get there so we didn't have a lot of time to take pictures beforehand. We met them at Brianna's apartment to take a cab to the event.
The ball was at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. There was a cocktail reception, a small silent auction, dinner, and entertainment by Bob Schneider. After dinner, we left fairly early and didn't stay for the after party.

Me and my handsome hubby!
Here are some more pics from my phone.
And Some pics of all the girls at our table.
Unfortunately I learned from all these pictures that I don't have very good posture... which also makes it look like I have a little pudge. I'm not the only one that said it either! My mom and husband pointed it out to me!

We're Home & Happy Mother's Day

We're home after a weeks vacation in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic with Colt's family to celebrate Blake and Victoria's wedding! I have a ton of pics from the trip but I'm going to try to get caught up in date order first. Yesterday after we got back from picking up our pups at my parents, I compiled and uploaded all our pics from the wedding... which was a job in itself!

Today is also Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to my mom! She is the best mom I could have ever asked for. I love and appreciate her more than I could ever express. Also, Happy Mother's Day to my mother-in-law! We are very grateful to have both of them in our lives.

Some CrossFit Videos

I had said that I wasn't going to do the Open this year. It falls right during tax season. Last year I did it and I ended up sick at the beginning and end of it. I think part of it was just because I wore myself out. When it came down to it though, I figured if I was going to be doing the workout anyways, I might as well do it and get judged for it to see how I'm doing. I may also be just a little bit competitive.
Here's the video from the Sunday afternoon when we went to the gym to do a practice WOD.
February 9th
And here's a little video from the gymnastics class that I mentioned in the previous post. I was too scared to try a back handspring by myself much less a back tuck.
February 22nd
I got my muscle ups a while back but I had never done them in a workout. I thought I would do a few and then have to scale but I finished the workout and did quite a few! If I ever worked on them, I'm sure I would be more comfortable, but I am still scared and don't know how to string them together. I do one at a time.
February 26th
The workout that day was AMRAP in 12 minutes
 15 sit ups
 10 front squats (RX 155/105)
2 muscle ups
