After
our first week in Temple, the rest of the month flew by. With everyone being new to town and the guys not starting until July, we had get togethers and things to do almost every night (or it felt like it anyways)! Since they have started up, none of them are on the same schedule so I'm glad we had the first few weeks to get to know people.
That second week, the 9th-15th, was my first week of working from home. I also tried to find a place to workout and develop a new routine for that. One day I worked out at lunch, and I won't be doing that again! I do like working from home. I feel like I have more time in my day, and I'm excited to go back to just 8 hour work days now that we're done with tax season. It's nice to not have to spend almost two hours driving a day. It's nice to not have to dress up for work, and it's much easier to get dinner cooked and get a few things done around the house! I do still wake up and put make up on and get ready most days or else I feel a little useless.
That week Colt and I went to see Edge of Tomorrow in Belton. They have the cutest little theatre there.
We also went to the Field House that night so Colt could play basketball. We got the call to come up there at 9:30. You can tell that residents don't work your typical work schedule! That Thursday, we went with Whitney, Matt, Alicia, Robb, Josh, Brianna, Brandon, Tina and another intern, Nima, to Corona's in Belton for some mexican food. Like I said in a previous post, the mexican food here is lacking and noone has homeade tortillas! That Friday, we had an intern dinner at Dr. Weiter's house out at the lake. That was the first time we got to meet several of the other interns. That Sunday was Father's Day but since we had just made the move, we didn't go visit family that weekend. We ended up going to the lake for the day and then heading over to Matt and Whitney's that night to watch Texas Tech baseball, eat burgers, and then also watch the Heat and Spurs playoff game. I had to work that night after we got home because I had slacked during the week that first week of working. I was easily distracted with still having a lot of stuff to do around the house and Colt being home, but at least I had the option to work later and it was easy to makeup hours!
That next week, the 16th-22nd, Brandon and Tina had a get together at their house with homeade pizza where we got to meet a few more people. Thursday, I made dinner and Josh and another intern, Bryce, came over and they broke in the burn pit for a little while before the four of us went up to the Patio on Main. We had planned on going to the Patio for a graduation after party for the outgoing residents but their main party ended up going a little over so we headed out before they ever made it there.
Friday night Robb and Alicia came over and we had pizza and just hung out on the back porch.
That Sunday we went to brunch at Megs with Josh, Brianna, Brandon, Tina, Trevor and Riley.
The following week, the 23rd-29th, was the last week before the guys started residency. We had dinner at Trevor and Riley's on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we had a welcome party for new residents out at the lake. After the lake, a lot of us went to the Patio for dinner afterwards. Then a bunch of the other guys here all went and bought a new Xbox and Call of Duty so Colt was up all night playing games!

Thursday, we had another welcome emergency medicine party at the bowling alley. Then on Friday, we went to an event the Chamber of Commerce put on for new interns showcasing a lot of the local businesses. Afterwards a lot of people went out, but we were exhausted so we went home, burned a fire and Whitney, Matt and Alicia came over for a little while. That Saturday, we had another get together dinner over at Jodi and Michael's house. Then Sunday morning, we had planned on going with a group of people to Hamilton Pool. We ended up getting there a little later than planned and unfortunately the line was too long to get in so we never actually saw Hamilton Pool. We ended up going down the road to Milton Reimer's Ranch Park instead. I do want to go back to Hamilton Pool sometime, and I wouldn't recommend Milton Reimer's Ranch Park as a getway. On our way out, we tried to go to Hamilton Pool again but there was still a line so we headed back home and stopped at the Oasis on Lake Travis for a late lunch/early dinner.

It was a fun first month in Temple, but I'm not going to lie, it was a little exhausting!
