Christmas Eve

We went to my parents on the 23rd to spend the night and be there for Christmas Eve. Heath and Jennifer came over around lunch and Joe, Nadine, and my neices and nephews came over as soon as Joe got off work. We had steak for dinner and then opened a few presents.
We always take our annual family Christmas picture.
My parents' shih-tzu, Pistol, ended up in most of them
Joe, Nadine, Jacob, Lily, and Logan
Jennifer, Heath, and Baby Tenison due in February.
Me and Colt

I got Tenison Poky Little Puppy's First Christmas so he could enjoy it next year.
A sign for Dad's shop that says "Oil Changes Always Free" because they usually are!
We got mom some red fiesta dishes this year.
And we all went together to get my dad a new case for his bow.
The guys checking out the case. I thought this was cute because Logan was over there checking it out along with them!
Last Christmas with just the two of them.. they may not be able to just sit and relax on the couch next year!
It was a great Christmas Eve and I'm glad we got to spend quite a bit of time with my family. Later that night, Colt and I packed up and headed straight to Quinlan to stay the night at his mom's.

Christmas Eve's Eve

We were heading to my parent's on the 23rd and wouldn't be home again until Christmas night so we did our little family's Christmas the morning of the 23rd. I put the dogs treats in their stockings the night before and Alex could smell it whenever she walked by and couldn't stand it.

Alex patiently waiting for her stocking.
Alex and Lucky getting their treats
Alex opening her Christmas. She wasn't a big fan of her present this year.. at least not on the day of. She wanted everything her brother had instead.
Lucky and his new squirrel
Colt and I haven't bought each other Christmas presents the last couple of years because we usually get what we want or need together or when we see or need it. We just went and bought us a new couch  and oversized chair yesterday though so I guess that was our Christmas! Plus I ordered some boots right before Christmas too and told him that was my present because they were pretty expensive.
He did give me a very sweet card for Christmas though which was my favorite present:)
I usually do his stocking every Christmas or at least put Turtles (his favorite) and a card in there, but I wasn't a good wife this year and didn't do his stocking. I figured everyone else makes him Millionaires or gives him Turtles at Christmas so he didn't need more from me, and I completely didn't get a card either. I will definitely not ever leave his stocking empty again though because he rubbed it in on how I didn't give him anything this year!

Beard

Here's a few pics of Colt's beard towards the end of the guys' bet. Luckily the bet ended in an agreement since none of them were shaving and he was able to shave when he got out for Christmas. The night that they agreed they could shave though was the night of his med school Christmas party. He went and got a haircut that afternoon but didn't have time to shave so he looked pretty strange with a long beard and a really short haircut.
Looking a little crazy... he's probably not going to be happy with me for stealing all these pics from his phone.
At the end ... and definitely in need of a haircut!
After the haircut but before shaving
And finally shaving!

He still left a little and didn't shave it all off but it looks much better :)
I definitely prefer clean shaven or just a little scruff look!

Davallen

Colt's family came over and brought pizza for dinner on the 21st so we could meet his sister's boyfriend that was in town on leave from the army. Davallen ended up staying the night with us that night, but while everyone was here Colt got her in the floor and was wrapping her up like a burrito. She was giggling like crazy.
David tried a different method but it wasn't as successful.

Colt making it so she can't get out.
Then he would prop her up until she fell over.
Trying to tickle her with a feather
Colt's sister is recently engaged and about to move to Hawaii since that's where her fiance is stationed so I'm glad she got to spend the night with us before they leave in a few weeks.

November and December Update

Colt had a two week break from class for the holidays that started on Dec. 19th. I think it was a much needed break because I think he was getting a little burned out and needed to relax a little. I also took vacation from work starting on Dec. 22nd and I go back on January 3rd, which is right around the corner. It seems like we've only been off a couple days so far and vacation should just be starting but it's about time to get back to reality. We had stuff going on just about every day it seems like but now we are just relaxing and enjoying being at home and doing nothing.  The week leading up to vacation was crazy at work and stressful trying to get everything done so that I could take off and not have to check emails. It was a much needed vacation from work, and I am so glad that I was able to take off while Colt was off.

Since the last thing that I blogged about was Colt's small group dinner which happened the first week of November, I figured I would do a little recap of stuff that went on besides the regular school and work. I also didn't take hardly any pictures so this is going to be a post with no pictures.

Colt started a bet with 2 guys in med school and grew out his beard for the first time. The bet was whoever shaved first, the other 2 guys got to choose their workout outfit for 2 days... Think skorts or Richard Simmons or something like that! I will blog more and post some pics of the beard later but luckily since none of the guys were going to cave, they came to an agreement at the end of Christmas break and were able to finally shave!
Colt had his new iPhone stolen at the medical school. I probably shouldn't disclose too many details on the internet but I will say it is one CRAZY story. After Colt tracked his phone, a few hours later we found it way away from the medical school in a random bush of a parking lot and now have the phone back!

Colt's team won the championship in their Intramural basketball league at school. Colt may have a few people that are not big fans of his after some of those games.
The weekend before Thanksgiving, my Aunt Mutt and Uncle Howard came down from Houston to my parents house. My cousins, Pattie and her daughter, Mollie, and Mollie's husband and son also came along. Except for at my grandmother's funeral in high school, I haven't seen Pattie or Mollie since I was probably 5 or 6 years old. It was great to get to see everyone and visit. We even watched some old home videos.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we went to Gerald's family's house for the annual Thanksgiving Tamale party that has become a tradition for us. We eat homemade chili, tamales and other goodies. We also go around and tell what we are all thankful for and then turn the tables and play a few competitive games of Mafia.
Thanksgiving day we went to my parents for lunch and celebrated with my family. We left shortly after lunch and went straight to Colt's parents that evening for dinner. It's great that we are able to spend a little time with both of our families for Thanksgiving. It does make for a hectic day though and a lot of food in a short period of time! Our last Thanksgiving celebration was the Saturday after in Watauga with Doyle and Judy, Colt's grandparents.

We had our first Christmas celebration on Dec. 8th with my work Christmas party at Reunion Tower. Luckily, Colt was able to make it, but as soon as it was over we headed home so he could catch up and study a little more. That night, we picked up Brock and went and ate at On the Border and hung out until Lindsey was able to meet up with us. Then we all went and looked at Christmas lights in Highland Park and Preston Hollow. It ended up being so much fun, and it might just have to become a new tradition!

That following Monday I took off and my mom and I went Christmas shopping in Rockwall and knocked almost all of our Christmas gifts out! We don't get to just spend a lot of days just the two of us, so it was great. It was definitely a FULL day of shopping though!

On the 16th, we had Colt's Sprague College Christmas Party at the Azure in Dallas. On the 17th, we went to our neighbors', Tony and Kelsey's, Christmas Party which was a lot of fun!

Colt was off after that. On the 21st, my last day of work before vacation, Colt's family came over and brought pizza for dinner. Davallen ended up staying the night with us that night. I have a few pics of Davallen and Colt playing that I will post later. The next day, the 22nd, we had dinner at Red Lobster with Colt's grandparents, Tooter and Linda, to celebrate Christmas with that side of the family. They usually celebrate on Christmas Eve and we aren't able to make it until late, if at all, so I'm glad they did an early dinner this year.

The 23rd, we celebrated Christmas Eve's Eve with our little family (which I will post details and pics of later). Then we headed to my parents to stay the night and be there for Christmas Eve with my family (more details to come). Christmas Eve night we headed straight to Colt's mom's to spend the night and be there for Christmas morning (also more details to come). After we left Colt's mom's on Christmas day, we came and spent a couple hours at our house. Then that night we went to Molly and Dennis's to visit with them and Bobby, Missy and Karsen for a little while.

On the day after Christmas, the past few years we have split up and Colt went to Watauga to see his grandparent's and I either go see or meet my family for my dad's birthday. This year we both went to Watauga for another Christmas celebration, which always consist of a game of poker. Colt plays, I watch.  That night we stopped by Gerald's in Arlington. Colt was wanting to buy Gerald some basketball shoes for Christmas so we ended up at Foot Locker buying some bright blue and orange shoes which Colt also now has a pair of. Then we introduced Gerald to Nordstrom Rack, where he bought two more pairs of shoes! I think he has a different color pair of shoes for every shirt... or at least he's trying! After that, the three of us went to Pappasito's for dinner and then went and hung out a little at his apartment before we headed home.

On the 28th, we met my family in Sulphur Springs to celebrate my dad's birthday (on the 26th) and my brother's birthday (on the 28th). We met and headed to a place called Big Smith's where my dad wanted to eat. When we got there, it was closed. Then we headed to Chili's which was packed and going to be a long wait. We ended up at Juan Pablo's (the old TaMolly's) for dinner.

Now the past couple of days have been pretty low key... full of sleeping in, movies, Colt playing video games and relaxing. Hopefully I'll get all our Christmas blogged before it's time to go back to work. Then hopefully I will be more consistent in the new year about blogging and taking pics.

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!!
We didn't take a Christmas pic this year so we combined a few of our favorite pics from the last year. I love the way our cards turned out and the best part about them was they were free :)
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Hopefully soon I'll do a little catch up of what's been going on in our lives the past couple of months. I definitely haven't been good about blogging or taking pictures lately.

Tiny Prints UPDATED

The last Tiny Prints post that I made ended up not working as planned, but with the assistance of their great staff, I was given another opportunity to blog about their products!!
Tiny Prints has a great selections of Christmas cards to choose from. I have ordered from them in the past and was more than satisfied with my order.
There are so many designs that it's hard to choose just one, but I think I would order something like this or at least a similar design with maybe a few less pics. We didn't take Christmas pictures this year so I want something I can put  at least a couple of pictures of us throughout the year... plus I have to leave a spot on the card for a picture of our dogs too!
I got my first Christmas card in the mail today... which made me realize even more that I need to get ours ordered so we can get them in the mail before Christmas!
It also made me realize that I need to come up with a cuter way to display my Christmas cards this year!
