16 month update

This week's nap times have been filled with bookkeeping, my brother's quarterly taxes, yard work, and a long overdue appointment to get my hair done one day while Colt was off. It's been a busy week. Yesterday, on October 12th, Kinley turned 16 months old. I know I say this all the time, but these months just seem to FLY by! While it's fresh, here's a little of what's going on with Kinley at 16 months... 

• She is 26 lbs. by our scale at home. 
• She's wearing mainly 18 month clothes and some 24 month. 
• Still in Size 4 diapers. We've started Size 5 at night though and probably won't buy anymore Size 4 from now on.
• She has 12 teeth. All 4 of her molars are now in. 
• Her hair is getting long and curly in the back, but we still don't have a lot of hair up front. She will NOT wear bows for me anymore either!
• She likes to brush her teeth but doesn't like help with it. She will sit there with her toothbrush and brush forever. We got her a battery powered toothbrush so at least it's moving around while she's chewing on it. Colt's mom made the comment that she's never seen a baby as young as her brush her teeth like she does though. 
• She is trying to say more and more. We definitely have dada, mama, dog, banana, no, hi (in a really exaggerated and high pitched voice) and night night down that you can understand. She says more that you can tell she's saying something specific but these are the obvious ones. We think that she says thank you sometimes. Colt says she definitely does. 
• She knows a ton of the different parts of her body. We have hair, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, toes, and belly button down. She also knows all these parts on Mom and Dad, as well as dogs or whatever else is in her books. 
• She knows light and light switch. You ask her where either of them are and she points. She likes turning the lights on and off. 
• She says night night and she will go to the fridge to get her milk. 
• She will go point at the bananas and say "nana." She also loves them. She will eat one whole banana and go back and want more. 
• She loves food. She really does eat a lot. She probably eats as much as me. I've wondered if I should try to cut her back but she seems healthy... so I guess no worries. She eats good, healthy food. For breakfast though she will eat three whole eggs, about five grapes, a strawberry and a little watermelon. Colt was home the other morning and said, "Kinley, you are getting a good breakfast." I responded, "She eats this everyday." Of course, his response to that was, "must be nice!" A few weeks ago when Dede was here while I was doing a CrossFit competition, she told me that she was glad that I told her she ate three eggs because she would've only made her one... and that she ate all three. 
• If you ask her if she's hungry or ready to eat, she will go stand by her high chair and wait. 
• She has the utensil thing down. She will stab at food with a fork and then put it in her mouth. She even held the grapes with one hand the other day to keep them from moving while she was stabbing with the other hand to pick up her food.  
• She feeds her babies and drinks their milk. 
• We have completely eliminated the bottle and just do cups now. Even after she's had her bottle, she still wants to nurse a little before bed. She can't be getting much, but she will still fight me until I let her. She can't be getting much. 
• She got her flu shot a couple weeks ago and didn't even flinch or cry. 
• When she "kisses" she will sometimes lick you. The other night when I was rocking her, I thought she was about asleep and she looked up and licked my face!
• She gives really good hugs. 
• She's a climber. 
• She has a farm puzzle and she can now definitely put all the puzzle pieces where they are supposed to go. She also knows a few of them by name, like cow. 
• She has a book called "Find the Dog." She can find the dog on every page. I don't know how long she's been able to do this one but she just started showing me the other day. It's also currently one of her favorite books. This and the "Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin" are on repeat right now multiple times a day. 
• She is starting to draw more and more on her Doodle Pro. She also has some crayons and a coloring book and is getting better at scribbling.... although she would much rather throw her crayons around!
• Her favorite things on TV are Daniel the Tiger and Sesame Street. She also likes Curious George. She loves the "Letter of the Day" and "Number of the Day" songs on Sesame Street. One of the babysitters at the gym thought she was trying to say Daniel today. 
• When she dances now, she's started stomping her feet and also spinning around in circles. It's pretty dang cute! She also still dances to anything with a beat. 
• She loves shoes and loves to put them on, whether it be her shoes, my shoes or Colt's shoes. She also loves to take her shoes off in the car and spend the rest of the trip trying to put them back on. She doesn't really like having socks on her feet. 
• She loves other kids. If she hears kids in the store, she wants on the aisle they are on and she is all smiles. She also doesn't mind at all when I leave her at the gym now. She just runs off and plays. 
• We've been spatting her when we tell her no and she just keeps doing whatever she's doing. Spatting hasn't been successful though.  She seems to like the attention, and it makes her want to do it again so we've recently started timeout in her pack-n-play since we don't use it anyways. She hates it. I think she gets so mad that she forgets what she was trying to do. 
• She's still addicted to trying to get the dog food and water. This is one of the things that she gets told no about pretty much all day. This and climbing on everything. 
• She also helps me unload the dishwasher every morning. She brings me one thing at a time to put away. 
• She loves to sit in my lap to read. She'll turn around and back into my lap. It's one of my favorite things. 
• She loves to play in the pillows with Dad on our bed. Whenever he's home before bedtime, it's became their little routine. 
• She also likes to use Dad as a balance beam. She's a nut and likes the falling off part!
• She recently started puckering up and running around making kissy sounds. When I tell her to go tell Dada night night, she heads towards him making her kissy sounds. 

She is fun, and she's a crazy nut most of the time! She definitely keeps us laughing and on our toes!
